Job Summary:

The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling project schedules to ensure timely completion of construction activities. The role involves coordinating with various departments, analyzing progress, forecasting project timelines, and implementing corrective measures to keep projects on track.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed
    project schedules
    using Primavera P6 or MS Project, covering design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Prepare baseline programs
    , including resource and cost loading as per project requirements.
  • Monitor project progress
    against the baseline schedule and update regularly to reflect actual site performance.
  • Identify
    delays, critical paths, and bottlenecks
    , and propose mitigation or recovery plans.
  • Collaborate with project teams, site engineers, and subcontractors to gather accurate progress data.
  • Assist in
    preparation of progress reports
    , dashboards, and presentations for management and clients.
  • Support project management in
    claims preparation
    and
    time impact analysis
    for extensions of time (EOT).
  • Track
    material procurement schedules
    , manpower histograms, and equipment mobilization plans.
  • Ensure that planning and scheduling standards, methods, and tools are consistently applied.
  • Participate in project review meetings and provide insights on schedule performance and forecasts.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Civil Engineering
    or related discipline.
  • 6–8 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the
    construction industry
    (buildings, infrastructure, or industrial projects).
  • Proficiency in
    Primavera P6
    and
    MS Project
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    project management principles
    ,
    construction sequencing
    , and
    contractual schedules
    .
  • Knowledge of
    Earned Value Management (EVM)
    and progress measurement systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Certification in
    Project Management (PMP)
    or
    Planning (PSP)
    is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with
    FIDIC contracts
    and claim preparation.
  • Experience working with
    ERP systems
    for project control and reporting.
