1. Objectives of the Role

The Senior Associate will lead and support the design, implementation, and delivery of research and evaluation assignments. In addition, the role will manage and contribute to the firm's technical proposal development processes and coordinate project teams to ensure timely, high-quality deliverables for clients.

A. Research and Evaluation

-      Design research frameworks, methodologies, and evaluation approaches (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods).

-      Conduct literature reviews, desk studies, and secondary data analysis.

Lead and supervise data collection processes, ensuring quality, ethical standards, and adherence to protocols.

-      Analyze data using appropriate tools (e.g., Stata, R, NVivo, Excel) and produce actionable insights.

-      Draft and finalize evaluation reports, policy briefs, and learning products for clients.

-      Facilitate stakeholder validation workshops and learning sessions.

B. Proposal Management and Business Development

-      Lead and coordinate proposal development processes, ensuring timely and compliant submissions.

-      Draft technical sections of proposals, including research methodologies, evaluation frameworks, and approaches.

-      Collaborate with subject matter experts, associates, and partners to develop high-quality, competitive proposals.

-      Manage proposal review processes, ensuring clarity, coherence, and compliance with donor/client requirements.

-      Maintain and update proposal resources (CVs, firm profiles, past performance references, templates).

-      Identify and share relevant business opportunities with the team.

C. Project Coordination and Quality Assurance

-      Coordinate with team members across client projects to monitor progress and ensure timely delivery of outputs.

-      Review draft deliverables for completeness, coherence, and quality before submission to clients.

-      Ensure that deliverables align with client expectations, firm standards, and contractual requirements.

-      Serve as a quality control checkpoint between junior team members and senior leadership.

-      Flag risks or delays early and propose mitigation strategies.

D. Client and Stakeholder Engagement

Serve as a liaison between the firm and clients for assigned projects.

-      Present findings and recommendations in client meetings and workshops.

-      Support relationship-building with existing and prospective clients.

E. Internal Capacity and Team Contributions

-      Mentor and supervise junior associates, analysts, and interns.

-      Contribute to internal learning sessions, knowledge management initiatives and strengthening research processes and systems.

-      Support the continuous improvement of firm methodologies, tools, and processes.

-      Research and evaluation reports, briefs, and presentations of high quality and within agreed timelines.

-      At least [X number] of competitive proposals are developed and submitted annually.

Project deliverables reviewed and submitted on time, with documented QA checks.

-      Knowledge products (e.g., case studies, toolkits) for internal and client use.

-      Capacity-building support for junior staff was documented and delivered.

1. Qualifications and Experience

-      Master's degree in economics, social sciences, international development, or related field.

–6 years of relevant professional experience in research, monitoring & evaluation with NGOs or consultancy settings, particularly in research, monitoring, and evaluation roles.

-      Demonstrated experience in managing research and evaluation projects for donor-funded organizations, international NGOs, governments, or private sector clients.

-      Proven track record of contributing to or managing successful proposal submissions.

-      Proven experience in primary research design, literature reviews, and implementing research projects.

-      Experience in coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and reviewing outputs.

-      Strong analytical and writing skills; ability to synthesize evidence into practical recommendations.

-      Proficiency in statistical and/or qualitative analysis software.

-      Excellent interpersonal and client-facing skills.

-      Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

1. Reporting and Supervision

The Senior Associate will report to the Manager/Principal Consultant – Research and Evaluation and will work closely with other consultants and project teams.

1. Duration

Full-time, one-year renewable contract with a probation period of 3 months. The position may require occasional travel for fieldwork and client engagements.
