Environmental Officer

Location

• Reko Diq Mine Site – Balochistan

Qualification

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related field.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in environmental management, preferably in mining, infrastructure, or construction sectors.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements in Pakistan.
• Experience in environmental monitoring and reporting (air, water, waste, noise, soil).
• Familiarity with Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs), environmental audits, and compliance inspections.
• Knowledge of environmental monitoring equipment and basic GIS/mapping systems is an advantage.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in reporting and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently in remote and challenging field environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement Barrick's Sustainability Policy & Procedures across project operations.
• Ensure compliance with the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and other relevant environmental approvals, permits, and legislation.
• Support environmental monitoring, including air quality, water quality, waste management, noise, and soil assessments.
• Collect, analyze, and report environmental monitoring data in line with project and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the implementation of site-specific management plans.
• Coordinate with construction teams to integrate environmental protection measures into daily operations.
• Conduct site inspections and audits to identify non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain environmental records, reports, and databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
• Provide training and awareness sessions to construction teams on environmental protection, pollution prevention, and compliance requirements.
• Support stakeholder engagement and liaise with regulators, consultants, and communities regarding environmental performance.
• Prepare and contribute to environmental reports, progress updates, and compliance audits.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and adaptive management practices in environmental performance.
