Head of Data Governance

Role Overview

The Head of Data Governance is responsible for developing and enforcing the company's data governance framework — ensuring data integrity, quality, classification, accuracy, accessibility and ownership, risks, retention, consistency and compliance across all software systems (HRMS, Operational ERP, Finance, Audit, Electronic Files, Structured and unstructured Databases). Creation of data standards, policies, and procedures to guarantee that business decisions are based on reliable and consistent data.

Key Responsibilities

·      Define and implement a company-wide Data Governance Framework.

·      Establish data ownership, access, and retention policies across departments.

·      Oversee database architecture, performance, and data flow in coordination with database managers and associated software teams.

·      Ensure compliance with data protection best practices and information security standards.

·      Ensure Data leakage and loss prevention is established in-line with Information Security standards.

·      Collaborate with Business Analysts, Quality Assurance and Software Engineers to enforce framework and policies.

·      Ensure data dictionary is created and updated at all instances of architecture revisions.

·      Ensure naming conventions are in-line with best practices and comprehensively identifiable.

·      Ensure relationship diagrams are created and updated with data flows where required.

·      Ensure data tempering checks are part of quality assurance plans and data remains as a single-source-of-truth.

·      Ensure periodic data related reviews, audits, backups, and integrity checks are carried out.

·      With the help of data and analytics engineers develop metrics and dashboards to continuously monitor data quality and integrity.

·      Ensure cross-system integrations are aligned with standards

Required Skills & Experience

·      Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Sciences or related fields.

· years in database management or governance; 3+ years in a leadership role.

·      Strong command of SQL/relational databases, data modeling, and data warehousing systems.

·      Strong knowledge of Data Management Body of Knowledge, ISO27001, Project Management, Business Analysis, COBIT and ITIL, CISA or CISM,

·      Excellent analytical, documentation, leadership, and communication skills
