What You'll Do

You'll lead the development of a distributed runtime and scheduling system that unifies a fleet of heterogeneous devices—from phones to laptops to compute nodes—into a single virtual GPU for inference. This system will abstract away the complexity of device variability and availability, making distributed AI workloads feel like local execution.

You'll work on

Scheduling & Coordination

  • Distribute inference workloads across devices with varying compute, memory, and network constraints
  • Implement model timesharing on shared hardware with fairness, isolation, and low-latency guarantees
  • Develop adaptive scheduling algorithms that respond to real-world load and network variation

Runtime & Infrastructure

  • Create a lightweight, portable runtime to deploy and manage models across a compute fabric
  • Build features like hot model swapping, load-aware placement, and preemptive scheduling
  • Support fault-tolerant execution, including graceful recovery on device failure or disconnect

You Should Have

  • Strong coding skills in Go, Rust, or C++
  • Solid understanding of scheduling, concurrency, and resource allocation
  • Experience with low-latency RPC systems (e.g., gRPC, Cap'n Proto, or custom)
  • Familiar with fault-tolerant patterns: retries, failover, backpressure, etc.
  • Comfort with async messaging and distributed coordination (Raft, gossip, pub/sub)
  • Performance mindset: profiling CPU, memory, I/O, and networking under pressure

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with P2P runtimes or remote execution engines
  • Understand edge constraints (thermals, RAM)
  • Familiar with model serving or graph runtimes
  • Comfortable with PyTorch, ONNX and Huggingface Models
  • Worked with WebRTC, QUIC, or real-time protocols
  • Set up CI/CD for systems-level code
