We are currently working with a Norway-based SaaS tech company that is building two innovative platforms in the accounting and board governance domains.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Python Django Backend Developer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will focus on designing, developing, and maintaining the backend infrastructure, ensuring the scalability and reliability of the platform. This role will involve working on building and optimizing features, creating robust APIs, and contributing to the overall architecture of the backend systems. The ideal candidate should be highly analytical, proactive, and capable of working independently as part of a distributed team. This is a long-term opportunity with the potential for growth into a leadership role as the team expands.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Python and Django.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful APIs to support platform functionality.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers and engineering teams to define requirements and scope.
  • Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and technical planning for backend services.
  • Ensure software quality through automated testing, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Maintain system documentation and contribute to internal best practices.
  • Support feature rollout, monitoring, and iterative improvements for backend systems.
  • Contribute to long-term architectural decisions as the platform scales.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in software engineering with a focus on backend development.
  • Strong expertise in Python and Django, including ORM, DRF, and asynchronous programming.
  • Solid understanding of REST API design and integration.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
  • Proficient in Git, Docker, CI/CD workflows, and cloud-based deployments.
  • Experience building and maintaining SaaS platforms or enterprise web applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture.
  • Familiarity with microservices or service-oriented architecture.
  • AI/ML integration experience is a plus.
  • Background in accounting, fintech, or governance software is highly desirable.
