About the Role
NIFT is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager – Legal Affairs to provide comprehensive legal support to its business and support functions. This role will focus on contract management, labor and employment matters, and compliance with financial regulations, including Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) frameworks.
The Assistant Manager will engage in day-to-day operational legal tasks as well as contribute to strategic projects, regulatory alignment, and risk mitigation. The position requires strong drafting, negotiation, and advisory skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments and with external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements (vendor, service, technology, partnership, and employment-related contracts).
- Provide legal advice on labor laws, employment regulations, and workplace policies, ensuring compliance with applicable frameworks.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business teams on contractual obligations, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and new initiatives.
- Advise on Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) regulations, payment systems compliance, and emerging fintech-related legal requirements.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations, preparing internal briefs and actionable guidance for leadership.
- Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, recommending practical solutions aligned with business needs.
- Conduct legal research on issues related to fintech, payments, digital transactions, consumer protection, data privacy, and intellectual property.
- Support the management of the legal repository, contract lifecycle tracking, and timely renewals.
- Assist in handling labor-related disputes, contractual claims, and regulatory inquiries, engaging external counsel where necessary.
- Contribute to process improvement and policy development, ensuring internal practices are aligned with industry best standards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education:
- Bachelor's in Law (LLB) required; Master's/Bar-at-Law/LLM (foreign graduate preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of relevant legal experience, including contract drafting and advisory.
- At least 1 year of in-house legal experience preferred.
- Familiarity with EFT regulations, financial sector laws, and labor laws strongly desirable.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of contract, labor, corporate, and regulatory laws.
- Understanding of fintech, digital payments, consumer protection, and data privacy regulations.
- Excellent legal drafting and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize multiple tasks, and deliver practical solutions.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills.
- High ethical standards, integrity, and professional independence.
