The Technical Support Engineer is responsible for responding to client queries and ensuring the proper installation and maintenance of software applications in both production and staging environments to support smooth business operations. Key responsibilities include optimizing application performance, applying updates, and performing debugging tasks. A critical part of the role is understanding how the application is expected to function from the customer's perspective and escalating issues to the appropriate department when necessary. The engineer will also follow up on client queries logged in JIRA or any other designated issue tracking system.

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate, analyze, and troubleshoot issues to identify root causes and potential solutions.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple active issues simultaneously.
  • Maintain clear documentation throughout the troubleshooting process.
  • Record actionable bug reports for resolution by the development team.
  • Set up and maintain UAT, staging, disaster recovery (DR), and production environments.
  • Collaborate with QA teams, developers, and clients to address and resolve day-to-day issues.
  • Optimize the performance of the production environment.
  • Deploy software releases to staging and production environments.
  • Configure virtual machines (VMs) and install necessary software components.
  • Acquire capital market domain

WORK EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Must have 2-3 years of relevant experience of providing technical support in a reputed organization
  • The ideal candidate must have knowledge of basic database concepts like indexes, jobs, stored procedures, import/export and installation of databases (preferably with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases).
  • Good SQL query writing skills and must be able to understand and analyze database schemas/tables to uncover inconsistencies in data at database level.
  • The candidate must have experience of deploying web applications on webservers for Java like tomcat, and wildfly etc.
  • He must be able to read and understand the logs of web/application servers to identify issues at application/server level.
  • The candidate must have experience of working on Linux servers.
  • Prior experience/knowledge of working with systems integrated with Banks, Stock Exchanges and Central depositories will be a plus.
  • Knowledge of Financial market protocols including SWIFT, FIX and FAST is a plus. Knowledge of configuring message brokers like Qpid, RabitMQ, WebsphareMQ will be a plus.
  • The candidate must be a good problem solver and must have good analytical skills. The candidate must have good communication and writing skills.
  • Highly energetic with good interpersonal skills
  • Must have ability to work in pressure environment
