Job Summary: Creative Chaos is actively seeking a Software Development Manager, a core engineering leadership role focused on technical delivery, team management, and scalable system design. This is a hands-on technical position where you will lead the engineering team, drive system architecture, ensure reliable execution, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-impact fintech solutions.

You will report to the CEO and work closely with product, telco partners, transport authorities, and operations teams.

Job Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & Execution

  • Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle for :

  • Mass Transit Tap-and-Pay systems (contactless, NFC, QR, card acquiring)

  • Telco Credit Top-Up / Airtime Distribution systems (multi-operator, agent-based, real-time)

  • Digital Wallet and Payment Integration (API orchestration, reconciliation, compliance)

  • Manage and mentor engineering teams across backend, mobile, and platform services.

  • Own sprint execution, release management, and quality assurance for mission-critical systems.
  • Translate business and product requirements into scalable technical architectures and implementation plans.

System Architecture & Technical Ownership

  • Drive architectural decisions for high-volume, low-latency transaction systems.
  • Oversee API design, platform reliability, system integrations, and infrastructure scaling.
  • Conduct design reviews, code reviews, and performance optimizations.
  • Ensure engineering rigor around security, compliance, observability, and failover.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with product teams to refine requirements, scope features, and plan releases.
  • Support client-facing teams (telcos, banks, transit authorities) during integration and deployment phases.
  • Partner with operations to ensure system uptime, monitoring, and incident response readiness.
Requirements
  • Strong technical background (CS degree or equivalent experience); able to engage in architectural and integration-level discussions.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3+ years in an engineering leadership or managerial role.
  • At least 3 years in fintech, payments, or telco-focused companies.
  • Experience in wallets, airtime/VAS systems, top-up distribution, and/or transit payment infrastructure.
  • Proven track record building and scaling fintech, payments, or telco systems.

  • Experience developing or integrating:

  • Digital Wallets

  • Offline-first payment solutions

  • Contactless NFC or EMV-based systems

  • Deep backend expertise (distributed systems, microservices, API ecosystems).

  • Strong understanding of telco protocols, payment rails (EMV, ISO8583), SIM/USSD channels, and identity layers.
  • Ability to manage engineering teams, deliver complex projects, and support production systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and architectural decision-making capability.
