The Production Manager – Packaging is responsible for overseeing all packaging operations to ensure products are packaged efficiently, safely, and in compliance with quality and regulatory standards. This role manages production schedules, supervises staff, optimizes resources, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to achieve production targets and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Plan, coordinate, and control packaging operations to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production goals.
  • Ensure all packaging lines operate efficiently with minimal downtime and maximum output.
  • Monitor production metrics such as yield, waste, efficiency, and machine utilization.
  • Manage inventory of packaging materials and coordinate with the supply chain team for timely availability.

People Management

  • Supervise and develop a team of line leaders, machine operators, and support staff.
  • Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure high team performance.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork across all shifts.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure packaging processes comply with company standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., GMP, ISO, HACCP).
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed production and quality records for audits and reporting.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to improve machine reliability and performance.
  • Lead cost reduction and sustainability initiatives related to packaging operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Packaging Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of experience in production or packaging management
