Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement advanced animation systems in Unreal Engine, including motion matching for both bipeds and quadrupeds.
  • Build scalable systems for quadruped locomotion (walk, trot, gallop) with accurate stride cycles, paw placement, and gait transitions.
  • Develop custom feature vectors for quadruped motion matching (foot contacts, gait phases, spine alignment).
  • Ensure smooth runtime blending, foot locking/IK, and procedural adjustments (tail, spine, head tracking).
  • Collaborate with mocap and animation teams to expand quadruped data sets for realistic creature animation.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience building motion matching systems in Unreal Engine, ideally including non-bipedal (quadruped/creature) locomotion.
  • Strong understanding of gait cycles, phase offsets, and asymmetrical locomotion.
  • Experience with IK solvers, Control Rig, and procedural animation for quadruped movement.
