Job Summary:

The Medical Biller is responsible for preparing, submitting, and following up on medical claims to insurance companies and patients. This role ensures accurate billing, proper

coding, and timely reimbursement while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy laws.

Key Responsibilities:

Claim Preparation & Submission:

  • Prepare, review, and submit clean claims to insurance companies electronically or

by paper.

Payment Posting:

  • Accurately post insurance and patient payments to the correct accounts.

Denial Management:

  • Review and address denied or rejected claims, make corrections, and resubmit.

Patient Billing:

  • Generate patient statements, answer billing-related inquiries, and set up payment

arrangements if needed.

Insurance Verification:

  • Confirm patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to services.

Compliance:

  • Ensure billing procedures comply with HIPAA, CMS, and payer guidelines.

Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed and accurate billing records for auditing and reporting purposes.

Coordination:

  • Work closely with medical coders, healthcare providers, and insurance

representatives to resolve billing issues.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in medical billing or related
  • field preferred).
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
  • Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and billing software.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills for working with patients, providers, and insurance

companies.
