Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior PHP Developer to join their technical team and contribute to the development, optimisation, and maintenance of key backend systems.

This role is ideal for an experienced backend specialist who understands scalable architecture, clean code principles, and complex integrations. The right candidate will be confident in building robust backend solutions and managing high-performance databases while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

This is not a junior or generalist role — we are looking for a developer with deep PHP expertise and strong experience working on production-grade backend systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance core system components with a primary focus on PHP
  • Optimise and refactor existing backend solutions for improved performance and scalability
  • Integrate and manage external APIs (e.g., DAWA, Synsbasen, YouTube)
  • Design, implement, and optimise databases in MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Build and maintain REST APIs and XML-based integrations
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers and frontend developers to ensure seamless user experiences
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and best practices within the development team
