Job Description

Overall Area Leadership:

Responsible and accountable for the entire academic leadership and management of Schools and the cohort of Principals. Accountable for improving SSR, enhancing fee collection, and managing day-to-day fleet operations. Responsible for managing the Area Administrator to perform administrative duties and handle academic data management, including analysis, verification, and preservation.

Relationship Management:

Maintain communication with community members and encourage the use of community resources to facilitate schools. Encourage Principals to maintain strong communication with parents and attend Parent-Student meetings occasionally. Liaise with donors regarding education activities when required. Maintain communication with other Area Education Managers (AEMs) to ensure a collaborative environment, seek feedback, and share best practices for regional development.

Quality of Principal:

Work towards strengthening the Principal cohort to improve quality. Collaborate with the RHR Manager in recruiting qualified local Principals, including participation in Assessment Centers. Ensure Principals participate in PQI visits and receive regular academic feedback through appraisals, supporting continuous improvement through PIP where applicable.

Quality of Teachers:

Enhance Teacher quality by strengthening the Teacher cohort, focusing on content and pedagogy. Work with Principals to recruit quality local Teachers, especially in difficult locations. Approve Teacher transfers and promotions. Conduct at least one classroom observation per visit and provide consistent feedback.

Quality of Schools:

Develop action plans for struggling schools, implement strategies, and follow up regularly to ensure improvements. Develop area improvement strategies linked to whole school and regional development through Area Improvement Plans (AIP).
