Graduate/Masters in Fashion Designing or relevant degree.
STYLING- Partners with Art Director and Creative Director (for mood and creative direction), Concept and Merchandising team (for product and priorities), and communicates all pertinent styling and product information to Executive Creative Director and Production teams while prepping for shoot and on set.
- Communicates product priorities to team and ensures messages are executed effectively in the trend-to-customer process.
- Styles seasonal and monthly outfitting according to key looks and trends, and merchandises product assortments for marketing messaging.
- Executes on-set styling and communicates asset expectations to Art Director on-set to ensure productivity on shoot.
- Articulates information to Editorial Stylist throughout the process, and during high-pressure and multi-set environments.
- Travels on photo shoots as needed to ensure that all styling is executed in an organized manner and is on-brand.
- Works collaboratively with Creative and Art Directors, Concept and Merchant teams to create messages for the site, emails and social channels.
- Co-presents to cross-divisional partners and executive teams monthly styling and merchandising messages for feedback and approvals.
- Works closely with merchants on a seasonal and monthly basis to recognize the product they have in depth and merchandise strong messages, shops and web pages for women's apparel, accessories, beauty and intimates storytelling.
- Plans emerging ideas, category messages, and seasonal items and brands into cohesive styling and merchandising strategies.
- Creates shoot styling that supports and highlights the trending product, and suggests new solutions based on current business that can be added into the monthly planning.
- Partners with Web Merchandiser to think through each part of the customer's experience and create product groups that fully support and tell each message. The products and styling should be well curated, edited and planned fully presented to the customer to create a rich experience on the site.
- Works with Trend and Concept to pull together Seasonal overview of key looks, big ideas, and volume attributes to support the Women's Styling team and the trend-to-customer process.
- Creativity: Creativity in formulating a fashion design concept is the most essential skill for a creative Head in the fashion industry. They must be able to form a vision to portray a certain style for a new line of clothing for a department store, or for the design concept of a fashion. The creative director must be able to generate fresh ideas that are appealing to the target market. Their creative vision must be congruent, with all parts matching the whole message.
- Communication: While it's important for a creative head to have cutting-edge ideas, it's the communication of those ideas with other members of the design team that allows the creative head's vision to manifest into a product. Execution of ideas for a new line of maternity clothing.
- Leadership: Many decisions must be made in fashion design, and it is up to the creative head's leadership skills to tie all loose ends together. After brainstorming with the design team, a creative head must make the final decisions on how a fashion project's vision will be presented. The director has to have a strong ability to take charge and make the final say on details such as measurements, fabrics, colors, shapes, graphic design and other factors. Pulling it all together requires organization, time management and the ability to lead and inspire each design team member throughout the production process.
- Technical: A creative head needs technical and artistic skills in order to execute creative ideas in a practical form. Skills in graphic-design computer software or photography, in particular, help her play with ideas that can be shared with graphic and fashion designers. Illustration and sketching skills allow him to quickly jot ideas down on paper for brainstorming sessions. Utilizing technical and artistic skills helps creative heads create and share prototypes of fashion concepts that would otherwise be more difficult to express with verbal communication alone.
