Research Assistant Position, Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging

PROJECTED START DATE: Summer 2025

We are seeking a full-time Research Technician to assist with various aspects of our cognitive neuroscience and psycholinguistic research. The responsibilities include coordinating all research project aspects, such as collecting and analyzing neuroimaging (fMRI, MEG, ERP) data, conducting statistical analyses, writing scientific manuscripts, and maintaining lab operations.

This position offers valuable research experience in cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, psycholinguistics, clinical applications, and data management. It is ideal for individuals planning to pursue graduate studies in cognitive neuroscience, cognitive science, psycholinguistics, or psychology. Our lab operates at both Tufts University (Medford, MA) and the Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging (Charlestown, MA), both easily accessible from Boston.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to collect fMRI, ERP, and MEG data from healthy adult volunteers.
  • Preprocess and analyze large language datasets using computational modeling.
  • Set up, prepare, and run routine neuroimaging and behavioral experiments, including:
    • Interacting with human participants
    • Maintaining lab instruments and equipment
    • Documenting experimental procedures
    • Managing and organizing data on research servers
  • Preprocess and analyze neuroimaging data, troubleshoot code, and modify scripts in Bash and Python as needed.
  • Perform statistical analyses using software like SPM8 and MNE-Python.
  • Create visualizations of neuroimaging data.
  • Input data into Large Language Models.
  • Conduct literature searches independently.
  • Maintain lab documentation, organize meetings, update data processing protocols, and manage supplies and IRB protocols.
  • Assist with preparing materials for publications and presentations, including data tables, graphs, brain images, bibliographies, PowerPoint slides, and posters.
