Job Summary:
The Sales Executive/Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying, developing, and nurturing new business opportunities within the freight forwarding and customs brokerage sector. This role requires a strong understanding of international trade, customs regulations, and logistics services. The ideal candidate will be a proactive "hunter" with excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of building lasting relationships with clients and contributing significantly to the company's revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales:
- Identify and target potential clients (importers, exporters, manufacturers, traders) who require freight forwarding and customs brokerage services across various industries.
- Conduct extensive market research to identify new business opportunities, industry trends, and competitive landscapes.
- Generate new leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, and attending industry events/exhibitions.
- Develop and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals tailored to client needs.
- Negotiate pricing, service agreements, and terms & conditions with prospective and existing clients to secure new business and retain current accounts.
- Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, acting as their primary point of contact for all logistics and customs-related inquiries.
- Understand client supply chain challenges and propose customized logistics solutions (e.g., air freight, ocean freight, FCL/LCL, customs clearance, warehousing, distribution, land transport).
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by coordinating with internal operations, customer service, and documentation teams to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Conduct regular follow-ups to ensure client needs are met and identify opportunities for upselling or cross-selling additional services.
Market & Industry Knowledge:
- Stay updated on the latest Pakistan Customs laws, SROs (Statutory Regulatory Orders), import/export regulations, and international trade policies.
- Keep abreast of global logistics trends, freight rates, and market dynamics.
- Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to management to help refine sales strategies.
Reporting & Administration:
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales pipeline in the CRM system (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot, or internal system).
- Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and activity summaries for management review.
- Collaborate closely with the operations, pricing, and finance departments to ensure seamless service execution and accurate invoicing.
- Handle client queries, complaints, and provide solutions efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred for senior roles).
- Experience:
- Minimum [2-5 years for Sales Executive / 5+ years for Business Development Manager] of proven sales experience in the freight forwarding, logistics, or customs brokerage industry in Pakistan.
- Demonstrated track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Existing network of potential clients in the import/export sector is a significant advantage.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong Sales Acumen: Proven ability to identify leads, prospect, qualify, present, negotiate, and close deals.
- Market Knowledge: In-depth understanding of Pakistan's import/export procedures, customs regulations, and various modes of transportation (air, ocean, land).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Urdu. Ability to articulate complex logistics solutions clearly and concisely.
- Negotiation & Persuasion: Strong negotiation skills with a focus on win-win outcomes.
- Relationship Building: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients.
- Problem-Solving: Resourceful and proactive in addressing client challenges and operational issues.
- IT Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with CRM software.
- Results-Oriented: Highly motivated, self-driven, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
