Job Title: Women's Fabric Designer – Local Wear

Reports To: Head of Design / Creative Director

Job Purpose

To design, develop, and execute innovative women's fabric collections for local market trends. The role requires creative expertise, strong aesthetic sense, and prior experience with top Pakistani fashion retail brands to ensure competitive, market-driven collections.

Key Responsibilities
Design & Development
  • Create original prints, embroideries, and fabric designs aligned with seasonal themes and brand identity.
  • Develop collections for prêt, unstitched, and semi-formal categories with a focus on local consumer preferences.
  • Research fabrics, textures, and finishes to introduce fresh ideas while balancing cost and practicality.
  • Coordinate with mills and vendors for sampling, strike-offs, and fabric approvals.
Market & Trend Research
  • Conduct regular trend forecasting through local/international fashion reports, exhibitions, and retail studies.
  • Analyze competitor brands (Ethnic, Lama, Khaadi, etc.) to align collections with market demands.
  • Incorporate cultural inspirations, traditional crafts, and modern silhouettes to stay relevant.
Collaboration & Execution
  • Work closely with the merchandising and product development teams to ensure feasibility of designs.
  • Oversee sample development, quality checks, and fabric performance.
  • Collaborate with marketing team for photoshoots, catalog styling, and campaign themes.
Brand Alignment & Innovation
  • Ensure every collection reflects brand positioning while offering innovation.
  • Suggest new product lines, fusion ideas, and value-add techniques (digital prints, embroideries, appliqué).
  • Maintain a balance between creativity and commercial viability.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong portfolio in women's ethnic and contemporary fashion.
  • Expertise in print design, color palettes, embroidery placements, and fabric development.
  • Proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, etc.).
  • Deep knowledge of Pakistani consumer preferences, fabrics, and price segments.
  • Excellent communication and vendor coordination skills.
  • Creativity, eye for detail, and ability to deliver under deadlines.
Qualification & Experience
  • Bachelor's in Fashion/Textile Design from a recognized institute (e.g., NCA, PIFD, AIFD, etc.).
  • 4–7 years of experience as a women's fabric/fashion designer in reputed local brands (e.g., Ethnic, Lama, Khaadi, Generation, Sapphire, Nishat, Limelight).
  • Strong portfolio of collections developed and launched in local retail market.

Skills: design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW, etc.), creativity, print design, color palettes, embroidery placements, and fabric development.
