Job Description:

Position Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled Network and System Engineer with 4+ years of experience to join our IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our network and systems. You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the network infrastructure, as well as managing the system environment to ensure smooth IT operations for the company.

As a Network and System Engineer, you will collaborate with the IT team to ensure high availability, performance, and security of all networks and systems, and you will be expected to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Network Administration & Management:
    1. Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructures, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
    2. Monitor and troubleshoot network performance and ensure a stable network environment.
    3. Configure and maintain network devices (routers, switches, firewalls, access points) and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs).
    4. Manage network security, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security appliances to ensure data protection and compliance.
  2. System Administration:
    1. Administer and support a variety of server operating systems, including Windows Server (2008/2012/2016/2019), Linux/Unix distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS), and macOS.
    2. Configure and maintain virtualized environments using VMware or Hyper-V.
    3. Monitor and manage system resources (CPU, memory, disk, and network usage) to ensure optimal performance.
    4. Perform regular system backups, patch management, and software upgrades for systems and applications.
  3. IT Security & Risk Management:
    1. Implement security best practices, including regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing.
    2. Ensure systems and networks are protected from unauthorized access and data breaches.
    3. Set up and manage firewalls, VPNs, and security protocols (SSL, IPSec) to safeguard against potential threats.
    4. Perform audits and manage system security patches and updates.
  4. Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
    1. Provide level 2/3 support for system and network issues, resolving incidents and requests in a timely manner.
    2. Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, providing efficient resolutions and ensuring minimal downtime.
    3. Assist with proactive system health checks and ensure IT infrastructure is scalable and resilient.
  5. Network Design & Optimization:
    1. Design network layouts, implement network configurations, and ensure optimal bandwidth usage and redundancy.
    2. Improve the performance and reliability of network infrastructure by identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks.
    3. Optimize and maintain server performance through load balancing, clustering, and failover solutions.
  6. Cloud Services Management (Optional):
    1. Manage and support cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud).
    2. Implement cloud backup, storage, and disaster recovery solutions.
    3. Migrate on-premise systems to the cloud where applicable.
  7. Documentation & Reporting:
    1. Maintain up-to-date documentation for network configurations, systems, and troubleshooting procedures.
    2. Generate regular reports on network performance, uptime, and system health for senior management.
    3. Document and standardize processes, procedures, and policies for system and network management.
  8. Collaboration:
    1. Work closely with the IT team to identify improvements and assist in larger infrastructure projects.
    2. Collaborate with vendors for hardware and software procurement, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
    3. Assist in the planning and execution of system and network upgrades and migrations.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Experience: At least 4 years of hands-on experience in networking, system administration, and IT infrastructure management.
  2. Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Technical Skills:

  1. Networking: Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, VPN, VLANs, and routing protocols).
  2. Network Devices: Experience with configuring and managing routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking devices (Cisco, Juniper, Fortigate, etc.).
  3. System Administration: Experience with Windows Server (2012/2016/2019) and Linux server environments (Ubuntu, CentOS).
  4. Familiarity with Active Directory, Group Policy, Exchange Server, and Hyper-V/VMware for virtualization.
  5. Cloud Platforms (optional but a plus): Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  6. Network Security: Experience with firewalls (hardware/software), VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other network security tools.
  7. Backup & Recovery: Proficiency in backup solutions (e.g., Veeam, Symantec Backup Exec, or Acronis) and disaster recovery strategies.
  8. Monitoring Tools: Experience with system and network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, PRTG).
  9. Scripting: Knowledge of basic scripting languages like PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate tasks and improve workflows.

Certifications (Preferred but not required):

  1. CCNA/CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Associate/Professional).
  2. CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
  3. MCSA (Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate) or MCSE (Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert).
  4. AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Microsoft Azure Certified.
