Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform manual testing on mobile games across multiple devices, screen sizes, and OS versions (iOS and Android).
  • Conduct functional, regression, exploratory, smoke, sanity, and usability testing.
  • Verify game mechanics, progression systems, monetization flows (IAPs, ads), and connectivity (multiplayer, server sync).
  • Identify, log, and prioritize issues using bug-tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, Mantis).
  • Validate fixed issues and perform rigorous retesting to ensure quality improvements.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, checklists, and test summaries.
  • Write detailed, actionable bug reports with supporting evidence (e.g., logs, screenshots, screen recordings).
  • Contribute to internal QA knowledge base and testing documentation.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of game design documents and feature specs.
  • Work closely with game designers, developers, and producers to understand feature intent and testing requirements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and demos.
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with cross-functional teams regarding game stability and release readiness.
  • Provide feedback not only on bugs but on overall gameplay quality, user experience, difficulty balancing, and engagement.
  • Identify edge cases, corner cases, and potential exploits that may affect gameplay fairness or player satisfaction.
  • Help ensure that game content adheres to platform (App Store / Google Play) guidelines and device compliance requirements.
  • Perform pre-release validation and smoke tests for alpha, beta, and public release builds.
  • Conduct compatibility testing on a wide range of mobile devices, including high- and low-end models.
  • Support live operations testing, hotfix validation, and post-release monitoring.

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in QA testing for mobile games (iOS and Android).
  • Deep understanding of QA methodologies, processes, and best practices.
  • Strong bug reporting and documentation skills using tools like JIRA, Confluence, or TestRail.
  • Experience testing features such as tutorials, user onboarding, leaderboards, matchmaking, IAPs, ads, and multiplayer modes.
  • Familiarity with Unity-based game testing (or other engines such as Unreal, Cocos2d).
