Let us introduce the role

AWE is currently recruiting for a Workforce Service Lead to support Quality within the COO organisation, reporting to the Head of Delivery.

The Workforce Service Lead is a key strategic role responsible for ensuring that workforce planning and capability deployment align with business needs across multiple business units. This role requires deep insight into the ebb and flow of program demands, balancing forecasted and actual workforce requirements to maximise operational efficiency and business outcomes.

The Workforce Service Lead will work closely with operational leaders to optimise resource utilisation, cost management, efficiency & effectiveness, and support enterprise Sales & Operations Planning processes (S&OP). By providing real-time insights and strategic workforce solutions, this role ensures that the organisation can meet both short-term operational needs and long-term business objectives.

Who are we looking for?

  • Lead and manage the team in the provision of a quality service in the absence of the relevant Head of Delivery where appropriate.
  • Provide leadership and awareness on the Quality service delivery model in the relevant business area.
  • Support an optimised and cohesive approach to delivery through collaborative working.
  • Focus on identifying and implementing changes to improve the quality service delivery.
  • Deployment of resource to maximise utilisation and efficiency of service delivery, identifying any future capability/skills requirements to deliver the programme and ensuring this is captured in the Quality Strategic Workforce Plan, through the relevant Head of Delivery.
  • Provide suitable governance and reporting to monitor quality performance and communicate with relevant Head of Delivery accordingly.
  • Responsible for ensuring appropriate levels of financial control are applicable to the delivery of a quality service.
  • Lead strategic assessment and development of required skills & knowledge to support both current and future capabilities.
  • Working with key stakeholders to align and deliver appropriate training strategy.
  • Support the relevant Head of Delivery in wider stakeholder engagement with the Executive, SLT, Customer, and Regulators.
  • Maintain and promote high standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality and invariably demonstrate personal leadership qualities.

We do need you to have the following:

  • Proven experience in workforce planning, operations management, or resource deployment within a complex business environment.
  • Understanding of S&OP processes and their impact on workforce strategies.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret workforce data, develop metrics & KPIs, and report to a senior level.
  • Experience working across multiple departments, sites, or business units, balancing competing priorities.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to workforce challenges.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in workforce planning tools and analytics software.

Everyone who works at AWE brings unique skills and perspectives to the table. We recognise that great people don't always 'tick every box'. That's why we focus on your potential, your fit with our values, your transferable skills as well as your experience. Even if you don't meet every point below, but you feel that this role and AWE are a great fit for you, please go ahead and apply, we'd love to receive your application.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Delivery of the quality service order book in relevant business area and responding positively to changing operational circumstance through flexibility and agility.
  • Identification, analysis, and interpretation of data to identify and support improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure appropriate systems are in place to achieve an effective and efficient quality service.
  • In collaboration with Quality Profession Lead, ensure that all deployed resources are proficient, managed and provided in a timely manner and in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Ensuring the team being led has clarity on the expectations on them, they are being managed to deliver against these expectations and that they are engaged and motivated, which may require collaboration with Task Managers for some of the team.
  • Track and monitor trends, events and activities reporting performance at an agreed frequency and at an appropriate forum.
  • Consistently demonstrating positive behaviours in line with the company's environmental, sustainability, safety, health, security, quality and ethics standards.
  • The Company may require you to fulfil any other reasonable duties aligned to your position from time to time in line with business needs.
  • Act as a role model and coach to develop a quality culture within relevant business area and wider organisation.

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a priority changing environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.

Some reasons we think you'll love it here:

AWE has a wide range of benefits to suit you. These include:

  • 9-day working fortnight - meaning you get every other Friday off work.
  • In addition, 208 hours of holiday each year (equal to at least 25 days leave) plus Bank Holidays.
