The Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for managing and maintaining our AWS Aurora RDS (MySQL) database infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security of our data systems. You will support day-to-day database operations, perform database tuning, handle backup/recovery, and work closely with the engineering teams to implement best practices in database design and optimization.

Responsibilities:

• Administer, monitor, and support production and non-production databases on cloud (eg. AWS RDS for MySql, ElasticCache for Redis)

• Ensure database security, integrity, and availability

• Perform backup and recovery procedures

• Implement and manage database maintenance plans, including patching and upgrades

• Optimize and tune database performance, including query optimization and index management

• Set up and monitor replication, partitioning, and other high-availability features based on usage

• Collaborate with development teams to design and review data models and queries

• Provide guidance and best practices to developers on database structure and data modelling during feature development

• Maintain and document standard operating procedures

• Troubleshoot and resolve database issues in a timely manner

• Participate in on-call rotation for database support

Qualifications:
Education:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience:

• 3+ years of experience as a MySQL Database Administrator, preferably on AWS Aurora

• Hands-on experience managing relational databases in AWS

• Familiarity with database automation, monitoring, and alerting tools

• Solid understanding of database security and optimization best practices
Knowledge & Skills:

• Strong SQL skills and understanding of relational database concepts

• Performance tuning and query optimization

• High-availability and disaster recovery strategies (Aurora clusters, failover, backups)

• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
