Senior Backend Engineer

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Engineer to join our team at Dubizzle Labs. As part of our high-performing engineering environment, you will be responsible for designing and developing world-class backend systems that support the growth of our businesses in 10 countries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Technical Leadership: Lead the technical direction of the backend team, making decisions on technology stack, design patterns, and coding practices.
  • System Design: Architect and design scalable, efficient, and maintainable backend systems that meet the needs of our software applications.
  • Code Quality: Write clean, modular, and high-quality code following best practices and coding standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, product managers, and designers, to deliver cohesive end-to-end solutions.
  • Troubleshooting: Optimise and troubleshoot performance issues in backend systems, ensuring high levels of responsiveness and reliability.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Perform code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior engineers to improve overall team skillset.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the software development process.
  • DevOps Integration: Collaborate with DevOps teams to ensure proper deployment, monitoring, and maintenance of backend services.

About You

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Backend Engineer who is passionate about building high-quality software systems. You should have a strong background in Ruby on Rails and experience leading technical teams. Additionally, you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver complex projects.

Requirements:

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in ROR Framework
  • Demonstrated expertise in system design, architecture, and development
  • Strong leadership skills, including technical direction and mentoring
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements
