Job Summary

A Principal Software Engineer for Node is an associate at Creative Chaos responsible for developing server applications across various software platforms. This includes, but is not limited to, writing Restful APIs for client consumption. The engineer ensures that the server application's functionality, security, and performance meet design specifications and are bug-free. Principal engineers also lead a team of engineers, mentoring team members through continuous training and guidance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of software engineers
  • Mentor team members through training and guidance
  • Analyze business requirements
  • Estimate assigned tasks
  • Write code and unit tests
  • Collaborate with other team members
  • Optimize code for security and performance
  • Maintain systems by fixing issues
  • Update issue tracking software
  • Provide status updates
  • Communicate with clients
  • Control code versions
  • Research new technologies
  • Upgrade skills and knowledge
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent
  • 6-8 years of related industry experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in JavaScript technologies
  • Knowledge of NodeJS and frameworks like ExpressJS and NestJS
  • Experience in backend development and Restful APIs
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and security compliance
  • Experience with relational and schemaless databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
  • Database schema design experience
  • Experience writing unit tests with at least 90% coverage
  • Familiarity with Git, JIRA, and collaboration tools
  • Understanding of security standards and compliance
  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies
