Job Summary

A Principal Software Engineer for Node is an associate at Creative Chaos responsible for developing server applications across various software platforms, including but not limited to writing Restful APIs for client consumption. The engineer ensures that the functionality, security, and performance of the server application align with the design and are bug-free. Principal engineers also lead a team of engineers, mentoring team members through ongoing training and guidance.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of software engineers
  • Mentor team members through training and guidance
  • Analyze business requirements
  • Estimate assigned tasks
  • Write code and unit tests
  • Collaborate with other team members
  • Optimize code for security and performance
  • Maintain systems by resolving existing issues
  • Update issue tracking software
  • Provide status updates
  • Communicate with clients
  • Control versioning of code
  • Research new technologies
  • Upgrade skills and knowledge
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
  • 6-8 years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in JavaScript technologies
  • Knowledge of Node.js and frameworks such as ExpressJS and NestJS
  • Experience in backend development and Restful APIs
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and security compliance
  • Preferred knowledge of TypeScript, Azure Functions, YAML, Terraform
  • Experience with relational and schemaless databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Ability to design database structures
  • Experience with unit testing, aiming for at least 90% coverage
  • Familiarity with GitHub, JIRA, and collaboration tools
  • Understanding of security standards and compliance
  • Basic knowledge of front-end technologies
  • Flexible, versatile personality
  • Strong presentation and influencing skills
