As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining the core services that power our applications. You'll work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and other stakeholders to build scalable APIs, integrate databases, and optimize performance. You'll be expected to take technical ownership, make architectural decisions, and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, and microservices
  • Write clean, testable, and efficient code using modern backend frameworks and languages (e.g., Node.js, Python, Go, Java)
  • Architect and implement database models and queries (SQL and NoSQL)
  • Optimize performance and scalability of backend systems
  • Implement security and data protection best practices
  • Collaborate with DevOps for CI/CD, cloud deployment, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to ensure high code quality
  • Work with the product team to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Mentor junior developers and contribute to team growth

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in backend development
  • Proficiency in one or more backend languages: Node.js, Python, Go, Java, etc.
  • Deep understanding of RESTful API design, GraphQL is a plus
  • Strong experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis)
  • Solid grasp of software architecture, design patterns, and system design
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of security best practices and authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT, etc.)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
  • Familiarity with serverless computing (AWS Lambda, Firebase Functions)
  • Contributions to open-source projects
  • Experience in performance benchmarking and profiling
  • Familiarity with agile development practices
