Job Purpose
Department: Dean's Office, Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education.
The Academics Lead at the School of Education (SOE) is a key administrative and academic leadership role responsible for managing and coordinating a wide range of academic functions across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The post requires a strategic and detail-oriented individual capable of supporting faculty, students, and administrative processes whilst ensuring academic excellence, policy alignment, and operational efficiency.
Job Description
Programme Review & Development:
- Serve as Ex-officio/Secretary for key academic subcommittees, including those on curriculum, orientation, advisement, practicum, and admissions.
- Oversee the review and timely update of SOE sections in undergraduate and postgraduate student handbooks.
- Support the development and implementation of new programmes in coordination with faculty and other departments.
Faculty Academic Support:
- Coordinate Academic Committee meetings, including agenda-setting, documentation, and follow-up.
- Support policy development and revisions in consultation with faculty and relevant units.
- Align course offerings with programme needs and manage teaching schedules collaboratively with faculty.
- Facilitate the review and approval of new courses.
- Support assignment scheduling and course calendar planning to ensure workload balance.
Registrar and Academic Systems:
- Ensure compliance with academic policies, including grading, course outlines, and academic integrity protocols.
- Liaise with the Registrar's Office on scheduling, course memos, grade reports, and enrolment matters.
- Train and support faculty in using platforms such as Zambeel and Grader.
Faculty Advisement:
- Oversee the advisement process by assigning advisees, monitoring engagement, and facilitating coordination with central advising units.
- Coordinate with IST to support ongoing development of advisement tools.
Adjuncts, TAs, and Teaching Fellows:
- Assist in mapping and assessing adjunct faculty and teaching fellow needs, and coordinate with the Dean's Office on hiring processes and communications.
- Administer the TA recruitment process and coordinate TA assignments with faculty input.
Library Coordination:
- Coordinate the submission and archiving of MPhil theses.
- Liaise with the library on Turnitin reports and procurement of academic resources as required by faculty.
Dean's Office Support:
- Support the Dean with communication, special projects, and academic reporting.
- Coordinate School Council and SPTC meetings.
- Serve as a key liaison on academic office-related matters for internal and external communications directed to the Dean's Office.
Co-Curricular Programming:
- Liaise with the co-curricular committee on the design and management of the co-curricular calendar, themes, and speaker coordination.
- Collaborate with the marketing and partnerships offices for event promotion and execution.
- Ensure feedback collection and documentation of all events.
Cross-Departmental Coordination:
- Lead SOE's academic coordination with other departments regarding curriculum, orientation, admissions, and practicum integration.
- Manage content updates related to the academic office's functions on SOE websites, brochures, and other materials.
Other:
- Guide and mentor staff in the academic office.

Qualification
The ideal candidate will hold a four-year bachelor's degree from a Higher Education Commission (HEC) recognised institution. A postgraduate qualification would be an advantage.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of relevant work experience, preferably within a higher education environment. Prior experience at an HEC-recognised university will be considered a significant asset.
