Program Description (Background)
Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The MHPSS Roving Social Worker supports the case management team by identifying individuals in need of MHPSS services, providing referrals to Mental Health supported Primary Health Care Centers, integrating MHPSS services into selected centers, and conducting awareness sessions and home visits to beneficiaries.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  1. Identify families or individuals needing psychosocial support through outreach and home visits.
  2. Provide accurate referrals to IMC-supported PHCCs and other local NGOs and INGOs, and disseminate information about IMC programs.
  3. Coordinate mental health referrals between community mental health centers and primary healthcare centers.
  4. Promote integration of mental health into primary healthcare at PHCs.
  5. Conduct awareness sessions on mental health topics and report on these activities.
  6. Provide psychoeducation to MHPSS clients and their families.
  7. Interview service users to assess their situation and provide advice and referrals.
  8. Complete assessments, evaluations, and documentation as needed.
  9. Conduct home visits when necessary.
  10. Work closely with the MHPSS manager to support case management activities.
  11. Participate in trainings and team meetings as required.
  12. Engage with the local community and build relationships with organizations.
  13. Maintain updated records and tools in coordination with the case management team.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in social work or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of relevant experience, NGO experience preferred.
  • Experience working with communities throughout a program cycle.
  • Understanding of program accountability principles.
  • Additional training or experience in mental health is desirable.
  • Commitment to non-discrimination and inclusive engagement.
  • Good listening, facilitation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to mobilize and develop relationships with communities.
  • Proficiency in local language; English skills preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
Additional Technical or Language Requirements

English, Pashtu, and Urdu proficiency.
