Responsibilities
  • Perform bookkeeping tasks for medical and SME clients.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual accounts for individual practitioners and businesses.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns in compliance with UK regulations.
  • Maintain and update financial records using Excel spreadsheets and accounting software.
  • Prepare and assist in Financial Statements preparation, Bookkeeping, CT & Assignments as per UK GAAP.
  • Other ad-hoc assignments.
Personal Qualities
  • Attention to detail ensuring accuracy in financial statements, tax computations, and supporting schedules, with minimal review points.
  • Able to keep confidentiality of the data and capable of identifying errors, inconsistencies, or areas needing clarification in client books and records.
  • Ability to positively engage and communicate with team members and managers at all levels.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow within a professional accountancy setting.
  • Confident.
Work Experience Requirements
  • A proactive approach with the ability to show personal drive and enthusiasm.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software such as FreeAgent, Xero, CCH. Basic understanding of UK VAT rules and filing processes via HMRC portals.
  • Strong planning, organization, and administration skills.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • Comfortable with preparing working papers and reconciling control accounts (bank, VAT, payroll, debtors, creditors).
  • Keeps up to date with changing UK tax legislation (e.g., IR35, MTD for ITSA) and adapts work processes accordingly.
  • Candidate must have at least 6 months to 1 year experience of working with a UK-based Accountancy firm.
