ResponsibilitiesAKU invites applications for the position of Supervisor for the Housekeeping Department. You will be responsible for best practices to ensure a hygienic, safe, and healthy work environment. Specifically, you will be responsible for:
- Supervising activities of housekeeping to ensure proper cleanliness according to defined standards.
- Maintaining constant awareness of the cleanliness, maintenance, and appearance of the hospital.
- Inspecting hygiene and sanitation of assigned areas and ensuring they meet defined standards.
- Ensuring that housekeeping staff are working in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures.
- Making sure that all cleaning supplies are available and appropriately labeled for assigned areas.
- Ensuring shift management is handled properly; all safety procedures are considered when mixing chemicals.
- Maintaining safety and infection control standards.
- Arranging materials used for cleaning from the housekeeping store and coordinating project work and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
- Arranging adequate staff coverage in all areas by distributing staff efficiently on a daily basis.
- Preparing daily supervisory inspection reports and forwarding them to the assigned senior.
- Providing on-the-job training to the staff.
- Reporting maintenance issues to the Maintenance/Engineering Department.
- Immediately reporting and documenting any observed safety hazards, conditions, or unsafe practices and procedures.
- Intermediate with at least 1 year of relevant field experience.
- Knowledge of hygiene, sanitary standards, and fumigation.
- Ability to control, discipline, and motivate staff.
- Knowledge of housekeeping work procedures and equipment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and resolve problems.
- Physically fit – the role requires continuous rounds in the assigned area.
