Job DutiesUnder strict supervision, assists during rigging-up and rigging-down of cementing service equipment at work locations, including spotting cement storage vessels, pre-mixing spacer fluids, and rigging-up data monitoring equipment. Learns basic oil well operations such as pipe capacities, volume/height calculations, plug landing pressures, absolute volumes, hydrostatic and differential pressures, resulting forces, balanced plugs, cement blending calculations with additives and spacers, pressure reversal, and burst/collapse determinations.
Assists in operating equipment like cement pumps, blenders, additive metering systems, centrifugal pumps, data acquisition systems, ADC systems, bulk cement systems, manifold equipment, and cementing plug tools. Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and completes related documentation. Understands hazardous materials, job procedures, and discharge protocols. Verifies correct valve configurations on bulk systems and surface equipment. Performs tasks with minimal impact on operations, with errors easily corrected by supervisors.
Skills are typically acquired through successful completion of high school or equivalent and 0-6 months of experience as an Operator Asst-Cementing I. A commercial driver's license may be required. May require I-Learn courses: Cementing II and Service Tools I. Effective communication, safety awareness, environmental consciousness, and compliance with HSE regulations are essential. Promotes quality improvement processes.
