Job Description

The position involves understanding customer security needs, implementing solutions, migrating existing firewalls to new FortiNet appliances, configuring initial customer setups, supporting integrations with third-party applications, troubleshooting, completing change requests, monitoring security appliances, resolving security notifications, improving security implementations proactively, staying updated on FortiNet products, and ensuring a positive customer and agent experience with FortiNet appliances.

Cybersecurity specialists have these specific responsibilities:

  1. Safeguard information system assets by identifying and resolving security issues.
  2. Define access privileges, control structures, and resources to protect systems.
  3. Identify abnormalities and report violations to recognize problems.
  4. Assess current security situations, evaluate trends, and anticipate requirements to implement security improvements.
  5. Conduct periodic audits to identify violations and inefficiencies.
  6. Upgrade systems by implementing and maintaining security controls.
  7. Prepare performance reports and communicate system status to keep users and customers informed.
  8. Maintain quality service following organizational standards.
  9. Attend educational workshops and review publications to maintain technical knowledge.
  10. Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
  11. Perform troubleshooting on active accounts.
  12. Have knowledge of FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiPortal.
Qualifications

Skills required for the FortiNet Security Specialist position include:

  1. Active member of a 24x7 team of FortiNet security specialists.
  2. System administration skills.
  3. Network security expertise.
  4. Problem-solving abilities.
  5. Knowledge of information security policies.
  6. On-call network troubleshooting skills.
  7. Firewall administration experience.
  8. Understanding of network protocols.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
  2. At least 2 years of hands-on experience with FortiNet FortiGuard security appliances, including designing, configuring, monitoring, and resolving issues (experience in repair or NOC roles does not qualify).
  3. Advanced FortiNet security certifications.
  4. Industry certifications such as SANS GIAC/GCIA/GCIH, Security+ CE, CISSP, or CASP.
  5. Strong understanding of TCP/IP, network ports, protocols, traffic flow, system administration, OSI model, defense-in-depth, and security fundamentals.
  6. Experience analyzing logs, network data (e.g., NetFlow, FPC), and attack artifacts for incident investigations.
  7. Experience with vulnerability scanning solutions.
