Purpose

Job Description (Café Manager)

The Café Manager is responsible for the successful daily operations of the café. He/she hires, trains, manages, and supports shift supervisors and Baristas to ensure the team provides consistent products, maintains a clean working environment, and delivers the highest level of guest experience.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate passion and confidence for the Second Cup Brand
  • Honor guests by providing quick, friendly, and genuine service
  • Generate guest satisfaction; respond appropriately to guest concerns
  • Manage and motivate shift supervisors and Baristas
  • Develop and implement café policies and procedures
  • Ensure adherence to all Second Cup Standards, product quality, and guest service consistency
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, training, and conducting performance reviews
  • Assist Operations Manager with placing orders for supplies required for the café

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Highly motivated
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Maintain positive morale and a professional attitude at all times
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
  • Understanding of food and beverage operations
  • Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends when needed
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Effective communication with coworkers and management to solve issues and improve quality and service
  • Collaborate with baristas, shift supervisors, and management to implement positive change
  • Ensure cash handling procedures are followed by all baristas and shift supervisors
  • Follow procedures for handling voids and cash handling mistakes
  • Perform end-of-shift reconciliation of cash and register records
