What is Assistant Manager HSE - MMBL?

The Assistant Manager HSE plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe, secure, and healthy work environment across MMBL's Head Office and branch network. This role is responsible for enforcing health, safety, and security standards, coordinating with vendors for safety equipment, organizing training and emergency drills, ensuring regulatory compliance, and acting as a liaison with law enforcement agencies and relevant government bodies. The position supports the Executive Manager – Security & HSE in all related operational, strategic, and compliance matters.

What Assistant Manager HSE does - MMBL?

Strategy, Compliance & Coordination:

• Develop and implement Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) strategies and policies to minimize occupational risks including illness, injuries, and downtime.
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies for audits, inspections, safety drills, and certifications (e.g., ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001).
• Liaise with government departments like CDA, Rescue 1122, and LEAs to ensure compliance and emergency preparedness.
• Ensure the safety of contractors, vendors, partners, and visitors across premises.

Operational Execution:

• Oversee procurement, placement, and periodic maintenance of safety equipment in collaboration with external vendors.
• Identify hazards and perform risk assessments across high-risk functions (e.g., electrical work, working at heights, equipment usage, etc.).
• Promote usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
• Conduct regular HSE audits and inspections including tools, machinery, and premises.

Safety Culture & Emergency Preparedness:

• Organize and lead HSE training programs, safety drills, and awareness sessions.
• Establish a strong internal safety culture by engaging staff and management in risk prevention efforts.
• Develop and disseminate HSE guidelines and ensure timely incident reporting and response planning.

Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement:

• Track and report HSE compliance metrics and ensure timely submission of statutory returns.
• Monitor follow-ups from audits, inspections, and incident reports to ensure resolution and continuous improvement.
• Create a comprehensive safety reporting mechanism and ensure real-time monitoring.

What are we looking for and what does it require to be Assistant Manager HSE?

Experience:

• 3–5 years of experience in security, safety, or HSE-related roles.
• Prior experience working with government bodies and coordination in regulated environments.
• Experience in financial institutions is preferred.

Educational Background:

• Bachelor's/Master's degree in Security Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.

Certifications (Preferred):

• NEBOSH, IOSH, or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor certification preferred.
