EVP, Head of Process Governance & Operational Risk (Mashreq Digital Bank Pakistan)

Head of Process Governance & Operational Risk is responsible for working closely with the Group Business Operational Risk Head to ensure the following:

  • Drive the in-country RBG Risk Forum meetings and ensure that all significant risks and gaps are presented for management awareness and remediation action plans are discussed with management.
Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA):
  • Support the business in developing risk registers
  • Identify and assess risk and control areas
  • Add or amend risks associated with new or existing activities, products, or processes
  • Report operational risk incidents
  • Validate the risk profile for the unit and identify risks as per management directives
  • Initiate and implement action plans
  • Review and authorize operational losses
  • Ensure all incidents are recorded in PRISM and action steps are in place to prevent reoccurrence
Business Continuity Planning:
  • Coordinate the implementation of ORM guidelines within RBG business units for BCP & BIA
  • Monitor that all businesses have an approved BCP & BIA execution structure in place
Thematic Reviews over the Portfolio
  • Conduct periodic reviews on policies, processes, and account statuses (e.g., KYC, CRS, FTACA, G2/G3 customer contact details, and other updates in the system)
Conduct Systems Access Review:
  • Assist the business in developing an approved matrix for system access for all staff, defining access levels based on product type and job requirements
Delegation of Authorities:
  • Support the development of non-financial authorities for approving exceptions
Maintenance/Update of SOPs and Work Instructions
Audit:
  • Support the business to be audit-ready
  • Ensure audit observations are closed and resolved timely
  • Ensure compliance with the bank's OPM for any extensions
Management Exception Report Process Management (MER)
Customer Transaction Profiling:
  • Review customer transaction alerts and take appropriate actions as per bank guidelines
Deferral Tracking:
  • Track aging cases and escalate to management as required
Potential Mis-selling & Complaint Handling:
  • Investigate complaints requiring governance intervention and provide independent feedback
  • Take disciplinary actions on confirmed mis-sell cases, including warning letters, incentive clawbacks, and coaching
  • Visit vendor premises periodically, with schedules signed off by the Internal Control manager quarterly
  • Conduct governance checks during vendor visits
Customer Transaction Profiling Process:
  • Set up automated alerts for transaction monitoring
  • Coordinate with customers for clarifications and supporting documents
  • Recommend account retention or exit based on review findings
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in digital retail banking or related fields, with at least 5 years in a senior management role
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, digital banking technologies, systems, and processes
  • Proven leadership and team motivation skills
  • Interest and creativity in contributing to digital transformation
