Job Title:

Academic Leader for Social Sciences and Humanities

About the Role:

The Academic Leader will play a pivotal role in driving the strategic targets and academic excellence of the faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for formulating and implementing 5-year and annual plans, exercising supervisory control over academic and non-academic staff, and ensuring the smooth conduct of examinations.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Formulate and implement 5-year and annual plans to improve QS Ranking in line with university targets.

  2. Exercise supervisory control over the academic and non-academic staff of the faculty.

  3. Appraise and assign KPIs to Faculty teams on personal and career development plans collaboratively with HODs/Regional Directors and in consultation with DVC-Academics and VC Office.

  4. Pprepare annual budget of the faculty detailing variables of Finance and new/existing programs with clear projections in line with 5 years goals.

  5. Facilitate VC Office, DVC-Academics and HDS departments regarding appointments as per university guidelines and rules.

  6. Ensure supervision of arrangements through Director/HOD office for the smooth conduct of examinations including scrutiny of exam papers, preparing of datasheets/duty rosters, compilation of marks sheets and preparation of examination results with 100% accuracy.

  7. Ensure assignment of responsibilities to all teaching and non-teaching staff (teaching, research, examination, and administration) in consultation with faculty Regional Director/Director/HOD at all geographic locations.

  8. Review/approve course offering, course allocations and timetables of teaching of various departments of the faculty prepared by the respective HOD.

  9. Permit students to proceed on industrial and study tours on the recommendation of Director/HOD.

  10. Allocate responsibilities to employees in addition to their own duties when required.

  11. Chair committees, wherever required, at university/faculty level and participate in departmental decision-making and governance.

  12. Lead and develop internal and external networks to foster collaboration and share information and ideas, promoting both the department and the University.

  13. Promote and market the work of the department in the subject area both nationally and internationally.

  14. Exercise academic leadership for all subject area teaching and research activities.

  15. To teach assigned courses as per faculty workload policy.

  16. Lead and co-ordinate high impact factor research in the areas related to faculty and cross-disciplinary research, projects and patents.

  17. Lead research and collaborative partnerships with other national/international educational institutions or other external bodies.

  18. Responsible for all accreditations timely with QEC and Registrar Office and ensure HEC/Council compliance at all times with different university units through Director/HOD office.

About You:

The ideal candidate should possess a PhD degree in a relevant field, preferably from a recognized university/institute. They should have a proven record of academic achievement, leadership experience, teaching and research experience, experience in budgeting and resource allocation, strategic leadership, academic management, communication and interpersonal skills, collaboration and networking.

Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in academic administration or senior leadership roles within an educational institution.

Teaching and Research Experience:

  • A strong background in teaching, research, and mentoring students and faculty members.

Experience in Budgeting and Resource Allocation:

  • Ability to manage financial resources for the faculty, ensuring the effective distribution of funds for academic and research purposes.

Strategic Leadership:

  • Ability to set and execute long-term academic goals, advance the mission of the faculty, and make strategic decisions that shape the academic direction.

Academic Management:

  • Strong management skills in overseeing departments, coordinating curriculum development, promoting academic research, and fostering an environment of academic excellence.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders/industrial linkages.

Collaboration and Networking:

  • Ability to build partnerships with other universities, research institutions, and industry stakeholders/linkages to enhance the faculty's recognition and research output.
