Job Title: Cloud Operations Leader

We are seeking a skilled Cloud Operations Leader to drive the development and implementation of our cloud-based data platform. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and cost-effectiveness of our Azure-based infrastructure.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of our cloud-based data platform, ensuring smooth execution and optimal performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis and incident response efforts, communicating effectively with stakeholders during high-stakes operational incidents.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize pipeline performance, compute workloads, and platform resource utilization.
  • Develop and enforce SLAs for critical datasets, pipelines, and reporting assets, driving business value and cost optimization.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure safe, automated, and compliant releases of data workflows and platform changes.
  • Implement observability solutions using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, detecting issues proactively and driving process improvements.
  • Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines for deploying data pipelines, notebooks, and Power BI assets, automating common failure recovery tasks where possible.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks, escalation protocols, and incident management playbooks, ensuring effective knowledge sharing and process documentation.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to align operational strategy with business priorities and platform roadmap.

Requirements:

">
  • 8+ years in data platform or DevOps/operations roles, with a strong background in cloud computing.
  • 2+ years in a leadership or strategic position supporting modern cloud-based data platforms, driving business outcomes and cost savings.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure Synapse, Databricks, ADF, and Power BI, as well as CI/CD workflows and release automation.
  • Solid grasp of cloud-native monitoring and incident management practices, with excellent communication skills, especially during high-stakes operational incidents.
  • Strategic mindset with ability to link technical performance with business value and cost, with strong documentation, process ownership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Azure Purview, data governance tooling, or automated data quality checks, as well as familiarity with ITIL or formal service management practices.
  • FinOps or Azure cost management certification, with knowledge of GDPR, HIPAA, or other data compliance standards.
