Transport Performance Optimization Specialist

This critical role is accountable for ensuring the day-to-day operations, performance, and optimization of telecom transport backbones. Key focus areas include fiber optics, SDH, DWDM, and IP/MPLS networks.

The role directly reports to the Manager Network Performance Analytics.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
  • Monitor and analyze end-to-end transport network performance across multiple domains including MW, Optical (OTN, DWDM, WSON), and IP networks, ensuring optimal service quality and network KPIs.
  • Perform in-depth trend analysis and cross-domain correlation, identifying potential risks, degradations, or bottlenecks proactively.
  • Develop, maintain, and automate performance dashboards and analytical reports using tools like Tableau, ensuring data accuracy and actionable insights.
  • Conduct data reconciliation, enrichment, and validation to support accurate reporting and decision-making for capacity planning, optimization, and forecasting.
  • Investigate repetitive outages and chronic faults through root cause analysis, generating recommendations and tracking action items with relevant teams.
  • Promptly escalate performance issues, ensuring effective collaboration with internal teams and vendors to meet SLA commitments.
  • Provide performance input for transport network planning and design, validating proposed expansions or changes based on analytics-driven insights.
  • Develop and maintain transport performance models and baselines to measure improvements or impacts of network changes.
  • Highlight network optimization needs and provide data-backed recommendations to drive improvements in reliability, availability, and efficiency.
  • Support the creation and improvement of SOPs, MOPs, and best practices related to network performance monitoring and reporting.
  • Maintain up-to-date network documentation, performance reports, and inventory records relevant to the transport domain.
  • Track vendor deliverables related to performance improvements and ensure resolution of all outstanding performance issues.
  • Deliver insightful performance presentations for management and other stakeholders, making complex data understandable.
