Horticulture Manager Job Description

The Horticulture Manager oversees the daily horticultural tasks in the exterior gardens and greenhouses, providing direction, training, and motivation to staff, interns, and volunteers.

  • Coordinates hands-on management of the garden, ensuring high-quality plant health and soil nutrition strategies.
  • Develops and implements sustainable gardening practices and integrated pest management in outdoor and indoor gardens.
  • Manages plant records policy, including the plant collection policy and design aesthetic, in coordination with the organization's mission and strategies.
  • Collaborates with the Grounds and Buildings Manager to coordinate heating and cooling of greenhouses, irrigation systems, and maintenance of horticultural equipment.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
  • Ability to organize, plan, and teach instructional classes in horticulture-related topics.
  • Experience in managing plant health, soil nutrition, and sustainable gardening practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
