Medical Billing Specialist

This role involves handling medical billing processes with accuracy and efficiency, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and maintaining high-quality standards in all billing procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign medical codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS) to diagnoses and procedures for timely reimbursement.
  • Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies, verifying accuracy, completeness, and adherence to payer requirements.
  • Monitor outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies to resolve billing issues, denials, or rejections.
  • Post payments, adjustments, and denials accurately in the billing system, reconciling discrepancies and ensuring proper documentation.
  • Generate patient statements, address billing inquiries, and assist patients with payment plans or financial arrangements as needed.
  • Stay updated with healthcare regulations, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to ensure compliance and minimize billing errors.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a Medical Biller in a US healthcare setting or similar role is essential.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of medical terminology, coding (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS), and insurance billing procedures is necessary.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare compliance and privacy regulations (HIPAA) is vital.
  • Excellent communication skills are necessary to interact professionally with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical mindset and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential.
  • At least 2 to 3 years of experience in medical billing is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, IPAs & Medicare advantage plans is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software is desirable.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field is preferred.
