Pipeline Integrity Specialist

This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and longevity of our assets, specifically pipelines.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pipeline integrity management and cathodic protection, with a degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.

A PEC registration is mandatory for this role, and certification in AMPP (NACE), API, or TWI for Cathodic Protection/ Coating Inspection would be highly beneficial.

• Coordinate with relevant authorities to acquire necessary permissions for Corrosion Control (CC) activities.
• Ensure CC stations are functioning optimally and undertake maintenance as required, maintaining accurate records.
• Optimize CC operations to prevent pipeline corrosion by reviewing coating and wrapping conditions.
• Determine corrosion-related issues through surveys, including bi-annual pipe-to-soil potential surveys, DCVG surveys, and close interval potential surveys.
• Coordinate activities with other service providers and vendors as needed.
• Implement health assessments of existing coating systems within the pipeline integrity assessment program.
• Develop and arrange coating rehabilitation plans based on survey findings and recommendations.
• Design and develop corrosion monitoring and cathodic protection systems using material specifications, calculations, graphic analysis, and statistical evaluation.
• Plan for Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of newly laid distribution pipelines.
• Perform timely Ground Beds renewal for various sections based on conditions and requirements.
• Monitor field tests, including Pipeline Current Mapping (PCM), Close Interval Potential Survey (CIPS), structure potential, Direct Current Voltage Gradient (DCVG), soil resistivity, and current requirements, planning recoating of pipelines accordingly.
• Diagnose and rectify system difficulties during survey operations.
• Conduct interference testing and coordinate interactions with vendors and customers.
• Prepare reports on survey and design work.
• Provide charts and tables for management reference.
• Assist in designing and planning regarding CC for new and existing pipelines.
• Install sacrificial anode systems for pipeline protection against corrosion.
• Conduct post-installation surveys.
• Implement policies, procedures, and rules regarding corrosion control of assets and undertake required corrosion control work for distribution pipelines and systems.
• Perform pipeline rectification activities in response to field survey findings and monitor CC levels to ensure effectiveness in accordance with cathodic protection criteria.
• Prepare survey reports and findings on coating deterioration.
• Revalidate Pipeline Integrity Assessment and identify vulnerable sections.
• Develop reports on corrosion monitoring received from assigned areas and guide actions accordingly.
• Procure necessary materials and equipment on a timely basis.
• Assist in under-construction pipeline projects and monitor coating status at project handover.
• Identify and assess risks under their management/ownership.
• Develop and implement risk response strategies for risks under their management.
• Monitor risks and response strategies under their management.
• Ensure accuracy and timeliness of information provided for risk reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree (16 years) with at least 6 years' experience or Master's degree (18 years) with at least 5 years' experience in pipeline integrity management and cathodic protection.
• PEC registration is mandatory. Certification in AMPP (NACE), API, or TWI for Cathodic Protection/ Coating Inspection would be advantageous.
• Familiarity with oil and gas/public sector environments and knowledge of cathodic protection/coating inspection principles.
