Energy Efficiency Expert

The role of the Energy Efficiency Expert will be to spearhead initiatives that promote efficient resource utilization and conservation in various sectors of the economy. This involves setting goals and performance parameters for the technical department, aligning them with national energy efficiency strategic plans, and ensuring compliance with regulatory regimes.

The key responsibilities of this position include:
  • Providing strategic direction and tactical vision for initiatives taken by the technical services department.
  • Designing and executing energy-efficient technical programs in the building sector.
  • Developing prioritized work plans for new program/project initiatives in accordance with charter of duties for the authority.
  • Ensuring strict compliance with core provisions in the building sector.
  • Capacity building and professional support to other departments wherever necessary.
  • Developing sector-specific energy efficiency strategic plans/business plans related to the building sector.
  • Contributing to the effective implementation of work plans, monitoring, and evaluating activities to ensure contractor compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinating internal resources and third-party vendors for activity/project execution.
  • Providing technical input in developing standards and institutionalizing labeling regimes for appliances used in domestic, commercial, and government sector buildings.
  • Developing capacity-building programs and awareness campaigns for building sector stakeholders to promote energy conservation building code compliance and associated mechanisms.
  • Developing content and training programs for energy auditors, architects, and engineers focusing on energy efficiency attributes.
  • Supporting the development and implementation of a national scheme for certified energy auditors and managers.
  • Creating linkages and interfaces with multinational donors for technical assistance programs and promoting energy efficiency investment in the building sector.
  • Assisting in developing PC-1s, concept notes, and feasibility studies for EE&C initiatives in the building sector.


Key Performance Indicators:

The performance of the Energy Efficiency Expert will be assessed against the following KPIs:
  • Development of PC-1s, concept notes, and feasibility studies for EE&C initiatives in the building sector.
  • Assistance in developing EE&C action plans for the building sector.
  • Identification of EE barriers for the building sector.
  • Assistance in preparation and launch of mandatory programs in the building sector (e.g., insulated roofs, installation of energy-efficient appliances).


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, candidates must possess a minimum qualification of BSc Engineering (electrical or civil) from a reputable university recognized by HEC. At least 6-8 years' experience, including at least three years' experience in energy efficiency in a relevant field, is required. A postgraduate qualification in the relevant field, along with knowledge of building-related international codes and design software, is preferred.
