Lecturer - Optometry / Orthoptics

Job Description:

As a lecturer in optometry and orthoptics, you will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students to achieve academic excellence. Your primary objective is to deliver high-quality educational experiences that cater to the diverse needs of learners.

  • Meet annual targets assigned by the department head to ensure optimal student performance.
  • Collaborate with the Dean/Principal to establish targets that promote a rich learning environment for students.
  • Teach assigned courses according to faculty workload policies to maintain academic integrity.
  • Continuously develop your own teaching skills and contribute to curriculum planning.
  • Employ innovative pedagogical strategies to facilitate experiential learning during lessons.
  • Challenge students' thinking, foster debates, and encourage critical discourse and rational thinking.
  • Supervise student projects, field trips, and placements to provide a holistic learning experience.
  • Assess and evaluate student work, set examinations, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' academic performance for internal evaluation.
  • Mentor 15-20 students through Riphah's Mentoring Program to foster personal growth.
  • Update data in virtual learning environments (VLE) and other required software as per requirements.
  • Integrate Islamic and ethical values into teaching practices to enhance students' understanding.
  • Participate in departmental and university committees to contribute to decision-making processes.
  • Ensure that teaching content and methods align with the institution's mission.
  • Monitor student attendance and implement strategies to improve engagement.
  • Pursue research opportunities and disseminate findings through publications or other media channels.
  • Apply research findings to practical problems to drive innovation.

Additionally, you will be expected to carry out independent research, act as principal investigator, and supervise the work of others when required.
