Project Manager Role

Pakngos is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Project Manager to lead our projects from initiation to closure.

• The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.\
• Evaluate and embed sustainability dimensions throughout the project lifecycle.\
• Maintain the quality of work packages and deliverables, adhering to defined quality requirements.\
• Liaise with external suppliers and account managers, manage acceptance and delivery of work packages, and monitor project progress to ensure proper execution.\
• Control project and work package changes, accept goods and services from suppliers, and lead contract management duties.\
• Act as the Employer's Representative within FIDIC works contracts, identifying potential risks and issues, and advising mitigating measures to senior management or the Project Board.\
• Identify and report business opportunities for UNOPS, maintaining compliance with organizational policies and procedures.\
• Manage budgets, cash flow, and obligations to ensure timely deliverables and payments to contractors and personnel.\
• Understand unique structures of the UN and budget accordingly for personnel.\
• Monitor expenditures against the budget, based on accurate financial reports.\
• For project closure purposes, provide a formal handover of the project to the closure manager.\
• Support project audit activities, including planning, preparation, coordination during audits, and follow-up on audit observations and recommendations.\
• Prepare and issue regular project and/or financial reports according to Partner and UNOPS requirements.\
• Maintain diaries and progress reports as required by standard procedures.\
• Provide routine oversight and analysis of delivery data within the dashboard system.\
• Develop stakeholder profiles and facilitate the formulation of stakeholder engagement strategies.\
• Establish solid working relationships with the Project Board, client, and key stakeholders.\
• Enable the formulation of project communications plans, coordinate internal project communications, and monitor their effectiveness.\
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement and communication, ensuring effective timing and interdependency management of communications.\
• Work with internal stakeholders to ensure projects comply with audit requirements.\
• Interface with suppliers' quality systems, ensuring effective collaboration.\
• Coordinate quality reviews of project documents and deliverables.\
• Encourage routine capacity building activities to build long-term sustainable staff capacity.\
• Interact with other Project Managers and the wider PM community to share case studies, lessons learned, and best practices.\
• Contribute to the oversight of lessons learned procedures, sharing lessons in a timely and appropriate manner.\
• Research and log lessons learned throughout the project lifespan.\
• Provide feedback to Practice Groups on policy, supporting guidance towards continuous improvement of UNOPS policies.\
• Lead and motivate the project management team.\
• Establish behavioural expectations of team members.\
• Conduct performance reviews fairly, accurately, and timely.\
• Select, recruit, and train team members, considering gender parity and diversity objectives.\
• Ensure safety and security for all project personnel, complying with UNDSS standards.\
• Create a culture of respect and zero tolerance for discrimination, abuse of authority, harassment, sexual harassment, and sexual exploitation and abuse.\
• Advanced University Degree in Engineering or a related field.\
• Relevant University Degree with 2 additional years of professional experience in Engineering or a relevant discipline may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.\
• A relevant combination of academic credentials and/or industry certifications and qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the university education.\
• PRINCE 2 foundation is highly desirable; PRINCE2 at Practitioner level or any other relevant Project Management certification is preferred.\
• Registration with Pakistan engineering council as a Professional Engineer is highly desirable.\
• At least five years' progressive experience in project management is required.\
• Experience working with development actors is well regarded.\
• Experience working across Pakistan is preferred.\
