GBV Support Specialist

As a GBV Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing direct support to vulnerable women and girls and survivors of GBV. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality services that address the specific needs of your clients.

Main Responsibilities

  1. You will provide age-appropriate and survivor-centred case management services to survivors of GBV and vulnerable women and girls, including assessment of their needs, basic counselling, and support to access additional services.

  2. Closely coordinate with your supervisor and seek support when required.

  3. Provide information on available services and support survivors' informed choices through referral, accompaniment, service coordination, and follow-up.

  4. Distribute emergency cash and material assistance based on individual needs assessments and established protocols.

  5. Participate in regular case review meetings and coaching sessions.

Monitoring and Reporting

  1. Seek feedback from clients and adapt services accordingly.

  2. Support post-distribution monitoring.

  3. Maintain accurate records of service provision and case files.

  4. Acknowledge strict data protection and information-sharing protocols to safeguard the privacy, confidentiality, and safety of survivors.

Coordination, Advocacy, and Representation

  1. Develop and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders, including community leaders and humanitarian partners.

  2. Coordinate with other service providers and community focal points to strengthen access to services and build support for survivors.

  3. Organize case management meetings as needed with other service providers.

  4. Collaborate with MHPSS, child protection, health, and other sectors to enhance integration and referrals.

  5. Promote program goals and GBV standards.

Security and Conduct

  1. Ensure adherence to security protocols and policies.

  2. Foster a safe and supportive work environment for all staff and partners.

  3. Embodiment of core principles of GBV programming, including respect, non-discrimination, responsible use of power, nonviolence, and promotion of gender equality.

  4. Contribution to the positive image and overall credibility of the program, notably through adherence to the Code of Conduct and Ethics.

Requirements

  1. A degree in a related field is typically required; however, equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.

  2. Relevant experience working with women is essential; academic experience such as social work is preferred.

  3. Demonstrated commitment to core principles of GBV programming, including gender equality and survivor-centered support services.

  4. Demonstrated empathy and familiarity with affected populations.

  5. Commitment to championing survivors' rights.

  6. Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills.

  7. Excellent listening and communication skills.

  8. Familiarity with government and NGO service providers is beneficial.

  9. Ability to exercise sound judgment, remain flexible, and apply experience and guidance to evolving challenges.
