Job Title: Cotton Development Specialist

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to fill the role of Cotton Development Specialist. This position will play a critical role in implementing the Better Cotton Standard System (BCSS) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAPs) for cotton crop.

  • Develop and implement training programs for farmers on BCSS and GAPs.
  • Conduct surveys to select potential cotton farmers and update information for existing growers.
  • Register and capacitate farmers and workers on best practices and BCSS.
  • Build the capacity of farmers, farm workers (male and female), on relevant criteria for Better Cotton production, GAPs for cotton production, and record-keeping.
  • Facilitate farmers/growers to register and develop as producer organizations.
  • Conduct internal assessments of registered cotton growers.
  • Submit fortnightly progress reports to Producer Unit Managers.
  • Collect seed cotton data from registered cotton growers and share with Producer Unit Managers.
  • Prepare technical reports of cotton growers.
  • Collect and verify Result Indicator Data (RI) from farmers and submit to Producer Unit Manager within the given timeframe.
  • Complete and timely submission of assignments given by line managers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Bachelor's degree in agriculture, preferably in Entomology, Plant Protection, Agronomy, or related to Crop Production.
  • Knowledge of BCI Production principles and Criteria.
  • Strong understanding of cotton production technology and its sustainability issues.
