Job Title: Civil Estimation Engineer

Civil Estimation Engineers are sought after to work on EPC projects in the Oil & Gas sector of the Middle East, specifically in the UAE region.

The role involves analyzing project specifications, construction schedules, drawings, and BOQs, as well as interfacing with other disciplines to ensure alignment. This includes estimating costs for direct and indirect manpower, materials, subcontractors, equipment, and other parameters to establish competitive construction costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project requirements, specifications, and drawings to determine the scope of work and estimate corresponding resources.
  • Determine the most cost-effective solutions and alternatives to remain competitive while meeting ITB and client/project requirements.
  • Prepare and develop techno-commercial proposals that meet client and ITB requirements.
  • Review and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes to determine compliant and competitive costs that meet specification requirements.
  • Identify and address discrepancies in received BOQs and other relevant documents.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in cost estimation for civil works, preferably in Oil & Gas/petrochemical projects.
  • Proven track record in preparing cost estimates for large-scale projects in the Middle East, preferably in the UAE region.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., Candy, CostX).
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, material specifications, and sub-contracting.
  • Familiarity with international codes and standards like ACI, ASTM, and BS standards.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

  • Certification in cost engineering (e.g., CCP, ICEAA).
  • Experience with greenfield and brownfield civil construction projects.
  • Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and 3D quantity take-off tools.
