Job Title:

Senior Economist and Development Policy Unit Head


This role involves providing strategic-level policy and program support on economic, development and social issues at the country office level in alignment with national development priorities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Designing and conducting research to produce analytical briefs and reports that inform decision-making on inclusive economic development growth.
  • Providing top-quality analysis and substantive inputs to strategic documents such as Common Country Assessments and UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
  • Advising senior management and stakeholders on economic policy and development trends, and facilitating collaboration with government counterparts and partners.
  • Leading policy advice and support on economic and development issues, including poverty reduction and sustainable economic growth.
  • Developing partnerships with governments, international organizations and civil society to promote human-centered and institutions-oriented research.
  • Managing a team of professionals within the Development Policy Unit, including supervising administrative and financial aspects.

Requirements:

Education and Experience


  • Advanced university degree in Economics, Development Economics or related field is required, or a first-level university degree in combination with additional qualifying experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years (with Master's Degree) or 9 years (with Bachelor's Degree) of relevant experience at the national or international level, including extensive experience in management, policy advisory services, research and analysis, and design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
  • Experience in working with governments, international organizations and civil society, and sound understanding of global and domestic development policy trends is desired.

Language Requirements:

Fluency in English and Urdu languages is required.
