The Role of a Health, Safety and Environment Manager

This role is responsible for developing and implementing organizational safety programs to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental laws and regulations.

Key responsibilities include coordinating training programs for employees, conducting risk assessments and evaluating the workplace environment.

The individual will also be responsible for sustainability reporting, working closely with partners, directors, and managers to address new requirements and emerging technical issues.

The HSE Manager plays a pivotal role in fostering a culture of safety and compliance within the workplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and propose corrective actions.
  • Provide training and support to employees on health and safety practices and environmental responsibilities.
  • Investigate and report on accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote a culture of safety and ensure effective communication regarding health and safety matters.
  • Prepare and maintain HSE reports, metrics, and documentation for management review and regulatory compliance.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Master's will be preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience related to this role.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal health, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective training and engagement.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HSE management software and tools.
