Automotive Parts Director

Job Description:
  • We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to manage our parts operations.
  • The ideal candidate must be knowledgeable in automotive parts and distribution, detail-oriented, a problem solver with excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain a balanced inventory consistent with the requirements of the service department and wholesale accounts.
  2. Assist in establishing pricing parameters for each customer category that generate sufficient gross profit while maintaining customer loyalty.
  3. Establish individual parts inventory levels and balance them for maximum turnover.
  4. Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence.
  5. Ensure all returned or warranty parts are properly tagged for full credit recovery from the manufacturer.
  6. Assist in supervising stock order procedures.
  7. Ensure technicians are adequately supplied with all necessary parts and materials.
  8. Oversee purchasing of supplies and materials for the Service Department.
  9. Adhere to policies on special ordering of parts.
  10. Analyze sales, expenses, and inventory monthly to maintain profit goals.
  11. Administer a comprehensive wholesale and retail parts program to produce profit.
  12. Provide high-quality service for both outside and internal customers.
  13. Work closely with Operations and Service Managers to ensure timely turnaround of parts needed for internal jobs.
  14. Assist in analyzing departmental operations and storage layout for maximum effectiveness.
  15. Offer technical assistance to employees and customers.
  16. Coordinate prompt, efficient, and timely processing of paperwork.
  17. Direct shipping and receiving efforts to ensure timely delivery.
  18. Assist in developing sales promotions and seeking out new parts business opportunities.
  19. Enforce and monitor guidelines for working with customers to ensure maximum satisfaction.
  20. Handle customer complaints promptly according to company policies and forward concerns to the Vice President.
  21. Ensure all dealership purchases are properly accounted for before payment is made.
  22. Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  23. Accept other responsibilities as requested by the dealer principal.
